Money is a significant consideration when deciding to come and study English in the UK.  In general, the money you will need depends on the location of where you will study and the length of your course.

Under the new Tier 4 points based system (PBS) you will now be expected to achieve a total of 40 points, in order to apply for an adult student visa (General).  10 of these points are awarded if you can demonstrate that you are able to pay your course fees for your first period of study (or for your next period of study, if you are applying to continue a course) and your living costs for up to nine months.

The cost of a student visa application will vary depending on your circumstances:

• Applying within the United Kingdom – £357 via postal service
• Applying within the United Kingdom in person (Public Enquiry Office) - £628
• Applying outside the United Kingdom – £199
